Policies

Clear terms protect readers, authors, and the integrity of the record.

These public policies describe the Atelier's operating standards. Specific residency agreements may add current schedules, investment, deliverables, permissions, and cancellation details.

Participation

The Reading Atelier is an adult reader community. Participation must be lawful, respectful, and in good faith. Readers may participate publicly, quietly, intermittently, or not at all in any particular activity.

Non-discrimination

Participation and program decisions are not based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or background. Harassment and discriminatory conduct may result in warning, restricted access, or removal.

No pay-to-praise

No payment buys a review, rating, recommendation, vote, recognition, positive comment, reader completion, reader number, sale, or commercial result. Readers retain independent judgment.

Residency investment

An accepted author may make an investment that supports production, presentation, reading resources, discovery work, facilitation, documentation, administration, and ongoing attention. The approved amount and included components must be supplied before acceptance.

Payments

Payment instructions are provided only through verified official channels after the author has received the current terms. Authors should verify any request before sending funds or personal information.

Refunds and cancellation

Applicable cancellation dates, completed work, non-recoverable production costs, refund eligibility, and processing times must be stated in the current residency agreement. A public page does not replace the signed terms supplied for a specific residency.

Content rights

Authors retain ownership of their books and original author materials. Readers retain ownership of their original contributions. Any license needed to produce, display, record, or preserve materials must be stated and limited to the agreed purpose.

Consent and documentation

Reader comments, author responses, audio, video, images, and quotations are documented or published only under applicable permissions. Permission may be scoped to a specific use and may be withdrawn where the applicable agreement allows.

Privacy

Contact information is used to answer inquiries, administer participation, verify outreach, and operate the program. It is not sold or rented to outside marketers. Public contributions remain subject to the visibility of the place where they were posted.

Moderation

Moderation protects safety, relevance, and good-faith conversation. It does not remove criticism merely because an author or reader disagrees with it. Decisions may be reviewed by official support where practical.

Book access

Readers obtain books through lawful means available to them. Unless separately agreed in writing, authors are not required to supply complimentary copies.

Selection and recognition

A book may be considered through community interest, nomination, or a documented selection process. Every accepted book reaches the Recognition stage, where published criteria and actual engagement shape its formal record.

Outreach and verification

The Atelier's official social accounts are TikTok @thereadingatelier and Instagram @thereadingsatelier. Any other account claiming to officially represent The Reading Atelier should be treated as impersonation. Verify invitations through thereadingatelier.co, the website contact form, or atelier@thereadingatelier.co before making a commitment.

Reporting concerns

Report impersonation, pressure for reviews, manipulated activity, harassment, discrimination, privacy concerns, or misrepresented terms through official support. Reports are reviewed by a person.

Shared responsibility

The Atelier must describe its work accurately. Authors must understand the limits of the residency. Readers must speak for themselves. Everyone must respect consent, privacy, and the independence of others.
