Authors who want to be understood
Writers who would rather receive four precise objections than four hundred silent downloads. Traditionally published, independently published, and self published authors are equally welcome.
Who this is not for
Authors seeking a launch push
If the goal is volume of ratings inside a release window, this is the wrong room. Our engagement is slow, voluntary, and impossible to guarantee in advance.
Fit
What kind of books fit
We select for capacity to sustain ten weeks of argument. Genre matters far less than density of thought.
Strong candidates
Literary fiction, memoir, essay collections, and ambitious nonfiction. Books with an ethical question at the centre, a deliberate structure, or an unresolved ambiguity worth defending.
Considered case by case
Genre fiction with serious thematic weight, translated work, poetry with narrative spine, and hybrid forms. We read the book before deciding, always.
Rarely a fit
Titles built primarily as lead generation, books requiring the author to be present as a brand, and work that offers no position a reader could reasonably argue with.
Emotional expectations
What this will feel like
- You will read interpretations of your book that are more generous than your own, and some that are considerably less.
- Criticism will be specific and cited. It is directed at pages, never at persons.
- You are not required to agree, reply to every point, or defend a choice you have moved on from.
- Most featured authors describe the experience as demanding and clarifying in roughly equal measure.
Time commitment
What we will ask of you
- Before the cycle
- One introductory questionnaire. Around ninety minutes.
- During the cycle
- Optional thread visits. No obligation to post weekly.
- Author encounter
- One curated question set or one live session, typically sixty to ninety minutes.
- After the cycle
- Optional written response for the blog and the feedback report.
Ethical boundaries
What we will never do, on your behalf or anyone else's
- We do not sell, promise, or guarantee reviews, ratings, or votes.
- We do not instruct members on what to say or how to rate.
- We do not remove critical reader responses at an author's request.
- We do not coordinate timed engagement to influence platform rankings.
- We do not share member data or private discussion with third parties.

Applications are reviewed ahead of each seasonal nomination window. We read every submission and reply either way.
A submission is a request to be read, not a request to be promoted. Authors who understand that distinction tend to have the best experience here.
